Hampden Sydney

Unincorporated village in Prince Edward County, south-central Virginia; population (1990) 1,200. Hampden Sydney is situated 8 km/5 mi southwest of Farmville and 92 km/58 mi southwest of Richmond. In a rural area, it is the site of the all-male educational establishment Hampden Sydney College (founded 1776).
