Hanahan

City in Berkeley County, southeastern South Carolina; population (1990) 13,200. Hanahan is situated 16 km/10 mi north of downtown Charleston and just north of North Charleston. It is a largely residential community near the Charleston International Airport (to the west) and Charleston Naval Base (south). The Cooper River lies just to the east of the city.
