Northwestern suburb of the city of Birmingham, England; population (2001) 25,900.

The 19th-century industrial pioneers Matthew Boulton, James Watt, and William Murdoch, who had a factory in nearby Smethwick, are all buried in the graveyard of Handsworth's 15th-century parish church.
