Mu'allaqat (or Moallakat)

Collection of 6th-century Arabic odes compiled in the 8th century. They are written in the qasida form, and are a record of the spirit of the age in pre-Islamic Arabia. The subject matter includes feuds between tribes, heroic deeds, and scenes of desert life. They were regarded as classical models for later Arabic poetry.
