Har Krishen

    0.09 sec.

Har Krishen (1656–1664)

Indian religious leader, eighth guru (teacher) of Sikhism 1661–64, who died at the age of eight.

During a plague of smallpox, Har Krishen cared for many of the ill before he caught the disease himself. The Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi was built in his honour. A spring in the area where Har Krishen cared for the smallpox victims is now a site for sick visitors to receive blessed water. Before he died, Har Krishen gave the name of the village where the next guru, Tegh Bahadur was to be found.
