Harcourt, William George Granville Venables Vernon (1827–1904)

British Liberal politician. He was home secretary under William Gladstone 1880–85, chancellor of the Exchequer 1886 and 1892–95, and leader of the Liberal Party in the House of Commons 1894–98.

He was born in York and educated at Cambridge. In 1868 he entered Parliament as a Liberal.
