Harnoy, Ofra (1965– )

Israeli-born Canadian cellist. She began her studies in Tel-Aviv and moved to Toronto in 1972, making her debut with the Boyd Neel Orchestra after further study at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has played in New York from 1982 and has given performances in the USA of concertos by Bliss and Sullivan, with Sir Charles Mackerras. She gave the first performance of a recently discovered concerto by Offenbach, has recorded works by Haydn and Vivaldi, and gave the US first performance of Sullivan's concerto (reconstructed by Mackerras).
