Harper, Edward (1941– )

English composer. He studied at Oxford and with Gordon Jacob, and also at the Royal College of Music, London, and lectured at Edinburgh University, Scotland, from 1964.

Fanny Robin, opera in one act from an episode in Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd (1975), Hedda Gabler (after Ibsen; 1985), The Mellstock Quire(after Hardy; 1987).

Orchestral

piano concerto (1969), Bartók Games for orchestra (1972), Ricercari in memoriam Luigi Dallapiccola for 11 instruments (1975), clarinet concerto (1982), Intrada after Monteverdi for chamber orchestra (1982).
