Harrison County

Administrative district in eastern Ohio; area 1,036 sq km/400 sq mi, population (1990) 16,100. It includes Conotton Creek and Stillwater Creek, as well as Clendening and Tappan lakes. The seat of this largely rural county is Cadiz.

Coalmining is important in Harrison County, and there is some manufacturing at Cadiz and Scio. Agriculture includes livestock raising, grain growing, and the production of dairy goods. Limestone is also quarried in the area.
