Harrod, Roy (1900-1978)

English economist. He held academic positions at Oxford University, in addition to government advisory posts. He was joint editor of the Economic Journal (1945-61) and was president of the Royal Economic Society (1962-64). His books include International Economics (1933; revised 1957), The Life of John Maynard Keynes (1951), and The British Economy (1963).

Harrod was born in London and educated at Westminster School and New College, Oxford Univeristy. Among his other publications are The Trade Cycle (1936), Reforming the World's Money (1965), Towards a New Economic Policy (1967), and Sociology, Morals and Mystery (1971).

He was knighted in 1959.
