Hart, Edwin Bret (1874-1953)

US biochemist. A University of Michigan graduate, he was professor of agricultural chemistry at the University of Wisconsin (1906-44), where he researched the chemistry of dairy production and animal nutrition and metabolism. He discovered the role of iodine and copper in preventing goiter and anemia, and the importance of vitamins in animal nutrition. Hart was born in Sandusky, Ohio.
