Hastings, Andrew Gavin (1962– )| Scottish rugby union player who scored 733 points in 67 internationals for Scotland and the British Lions (which is a Scottish record). A full back, he captained Cambridge University in 1985 and 1986, and played club rugby for the Edinburgh side Watsonians. He first played for Scotland in 1986, and was a member of Scotland's Grand Slam team in 1990. He also played on the British Lions tours of Australia in 1989, and New Zealand in 1993 (as captain). He scored a record 44 points in a World Cup game against Côte d'Ivoire in 1995. He retired as a player in 1995. His brother, Scott Hastings, also a rugby player, won 66 international caps for Scotland. |
