Hatcher, Teri Lynn (1964– )

US television and film actor. Known for both her sex appeal and character acting, she starred as Lois Lane in the television series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1994–97). She returned to television after a six-year hiatus to star as a single mother trying to find love in the hit series Desperate Housewives (2004– ).

Her film debut was in Christopher Guest's comedy The Big Picture (1989). Other films include the comedy Soapdish (1991), the crime drama Two Days in the Valley (1996), the thriller Heaven's Prisoners (1996), the James Bond adventure Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and the family adventure Spy Kids (2001). She has also appeared on stage, including in the musical Cabaret (1999–2000) and in the Eve Ensler play The Vagina Monologues (2005).

She was born in Sunnyvale, California, and studied mathematics and engineering in San Francisco before attending the American Conservatory Theatre. She became a cheerleader for the San Francisco 49s American football team at the age of 20. She made her television debut on the revived sitcom The Love Boat in 1985, was a guest star on several television series, including the action series MacGyver (1986–91) and the sitcom Seinfeld (1998), and was a popular guest host of Saturday Night Live (1996). She was also known in 1996 as the woman whose image was most downloaded from the Internet.
