Hatfield Forest

Recreational area and nature reserve in Essex, England, 5 km/3 mi east of Bishop's Stortford. Hatfield Forest comprises some 4.25 sq km/1.6 sq mi of rolling open countryside and pine trees. The forest is now under the care of the National Trust.

It was once part of the Royal Forest of Essex, maintained from Tudor times until 1915. Hatfield Forest includes an ancient camp at Portingbury Hills, and a lake for boating and fishing.
