Hauppauge

Unincorporated village within Smithtown, Suffolk County, southeastern New York State, in central Long Island; population (1990) 19,800. It is the location of federal, state, and county government offices, although the county seat is at Riverhead. Hauppauge is also home to publishing houses, various corporate offices, and other commercial development.
