Hazard, Paul (1878-1944)

French literary critic. He wrote about European literature in such works as La Crise de la conscience européenne, 1680-1715/The European Mind 1935 and La Pensée européenne au XVIIIe siècle de Montesquieu à Lessing/European Thought in the Eighteenth Century from Montesquieu to Lessing, published posthumously 1946.

Other works include La Révolution française et les lettres italiennes/The French Revolution in Italian Letters 1910, Giacomo Leopardi 1913, L'Italie vivante/Living Italy 1923, La Vie de Stendhal 1928, Don Quichotte de Cervantes/Cervantes' Don Quixote 1931, and Les Livres, les enfants et les hommes/Books, Children and People 1932, a study of children's literature.
