Headstart

US nursery-education project launched in the 1960s that aimed to boost the educational performance of children from deprived backgrounds. Early follow-up studies suggested that the results were not long-lasting, but later research indicated that the benefits of early education could be measured in terms of improved educational performance and job prospects in adult life.
