Health and Safety Commission

UK government organization responsible for securing the health, safety, and welfare of people at work, and for protecting the public against dangers to health and safety arising from work activities. It was established by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and is responsible to the secretary of state for employment.

The Health and Safety Executive is responsible for carrying out the Commission's decisions, bringing together a number of different inspectorates, including those for factories and mines and quarries.
