Heanor

Town in Derbyshire, England, 16 km/10 mi northwest of Nottingham; population (2001) 16,600. It produces hosiery, structural and mechanical engineering goods, prefabricated timber buildings, and pottery. Large coal mines once operated in the area, but have long been closed.
