Heger, Robert (1886–1978)

German conductor and composer. He studied at Zurich and Munich, with Schillings as his chief master. He conducted opera in many German cities, and also in Vienna and London, and in 1953 led the first performance of Strauss's Capriccio in Britain at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.

operas Ein Fest zu Haderslev, Der Bettler Namenlos (from Homer's ‘Odyssey’, 1932), Der verlorene Sohn (1936), Lady Hamilton (1951); melodrama Die Jüdin von Worms; Ein Friedenslied for solo voices, chorus, orchestra, and organ; three symphonies.
