Heidenheim

City in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on the River Brenz, 68 km/42 mi east of Stuttgart; population (1994) 136,600. There are machinery, metal, and textile industries. Heidenheim is built on a rocky outcrop and has an 11th-century castle (Hellenstein).

bought the winder division of Maier Heidenheim, a German maker of turret and orbital winders.
