Hendricks, Barbara (1948– )

US soprano. She studied at Juilliard and made her debut in the first New York performance of Virgil Thomson's Lord Byron (1972). She sang Calisto at Glyndebourne in 1974 and the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen at Santa Fe the following year. She had further opera engagements in Boston, Berlin, and at Orange. In 1982 she sang Nannetta at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, and in 1986 she made her New York Metropolitan Opera House debut as Strauss's Sophie. She sang Manon at Parma in 1991, and Micaela at Orange in 1992. Her other roles include Susanna, Pamina, and Amor.
