Henkemans, Hans (1913–1995)

Dutch composer and pianist. He studied piano with Sigtenhorst-Meyer and composition with Pijper, and made his debut, aged 19, in his own piano concerto. He later studied medicine and for some time practised as a psychiatrist, before devoting himself entirely to music. He was a concert pianist until 1969.

Works

symphony; two piano concertos (1923, 1936); concertos for flute, violin, viola, harp; three string quartets; sonatas for cello, violin, two pianos.
