Henley Royal RegattaUK rowing festival on the River Thames at Henley, Oxfordshire, inaugurated in 1839. It is as much a social as a sporting occasion. The principal events are the solo Diamond Challenge Sculls and the Grand Challenge Cup, the leading event for eight-oared shells. The regatta is held in June/July. From 1998 professional rowers were allowed to compete at Henley after the Regatta's stewards had dropped the amateur definition from their rules. How to thank TFD for its existence?
