Henley-on-Thames

Town in Oxfordshire, south-central England, 56 km/35 mi west of London; population (2001) 10,650. It provides financial and other services, and has malting and brewing, and light engineering industries. The Royal Regatta, held here annually since 1839, is in June/July. Henley Management Colllege, established in 1946, was the first in Europe. A River and Rowing museum opened here in 1998.

A fine five-arched bridge, built in 1786, spans the River Thames.
