Hennepin County

Administrative district of east-central Minnesota; area 1,401 sq km/541 sq mi, population (1990) 1,032,400. It is bordered by the Mississippi River (to the east), the Crow River (northwest), and the Minnesota River (southeast). The most populous county in the state, it includes Minneapolis, which is its seat, together with the mostly affluent suburbs west of the city.

Other settlements in Hennepin County include Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, St Louis Park, and Minnetonka. Lake Minnetonka is situated in the west of the county, an area that also contains Minneapolis–St Paul International Airport and Fort Snelling.
