Henry, Lenny (1958– )

English comedian and comic actor who first appeared on TV on the talent show New Faces when he was 16. He went on to work on the children's programmes Tiswas and OTT before starring in The Lenny Henry Show (1984). A stalwart of the Comic Relief fund-raising programmes, he also took the lead role in the sitcom Chef! in the 1990s, presented Lenny Goes to Town (in which he toured the UK) in 1998, and starred in the BBC comprehensive school drama Hope and Glory in 1999.

He is married to comedian Dawn French.
