Henry County

Administrative district of west-central Illinois; area 2,134 sq km/824 sq mi, population (1990) 51,200. It is bordered by the Rock River to the northwest, and has its seat at Cambridge. Kewanee and Geneseo are its largest cities.

The Green River and Hennepin Canal flow through the northern part of Henry County, and flow into the Rock River. There has been a great deal of suburban growth in the northwest, just beyond the cities of Moline and East Moline. Most of the county is agricultural, with pork and corn the main produce. Johnson Sauk Trail State Park lies northeast of Kewanee, and Bishop Hill Historic Site is located in the south.
