perennial plant![]() Anemone blanda (common name windflower) is a low-growing perennial with a daisylike flower. It flowers in spring, and is found in partially-shaded conditions such as woodland. Herbaceous perennials have aerial stems and leaves that die each autumn. They survive the winter by means of an underground storage organ (perennating organ), such as a bulb or rhizome. Trees and shrubs or woody perennials have stems that persist above ground throughout the year, and may be either deciduous or evergreen. See also annual plant, biennial plant.
