Herbert, Don(ald) Jeffry (1917–2007)

US television presenter and producer. He created and starred in Watch Mr Wizard (1951–65, 1971–72), an informal educational television program that popularized scientific principles by demonstrating simple experiments. He also produced the adult science series How About (1979–86).

Herbert was born in Waconia and grew up in La Crosse, Minnesota. He served as a pilot in the US Air Force during World War II. He combined his interests in science and drama when he went into radio work in Chicago, Illinois, acting in such broadcasts as the children's health programme It's Your Life (1949).
