Hermann, Roland (1936– )

German baritone. He made his debut at Trier in 1967, as Mozart's Figaro, was a member of the Zurich Opera from 1968, and made guest appearances in Munich, Buenos Aires, Paris, and Berlin. Among his best roles are Don Giovanni, Amfortas, Wolfram, and Germont. He has a wide repertory and has recorded Busoni's Doktor Faust, Schumann's Genoveva, Marschner's Vampyr, Orff's Prometheus, and Schoenberg's Moses und Aron. He created the Master in Höller's Meister und Margarita in Paris in 1989.
