Herndon

Town in Fairfax County, northern Virginia, 32 km/20 mi west-northwest of Washington DC; population (1990) 16,100. In a formerly agricultural area, it is a growing residential suburb with high-tech and other businesses, many of which serve Washington Dulles International Airport, which lies immediately southwest of the town.
