Herz, Joachim

    0.03 sec.

Herz, Joachim (1924– )

German producer and administrator. He was assistant to Felsenstein at the Komische Oper Berlin 1953–56, and returned as Intendant 1976–81. He worked with the Leipzig Opera 1957–76, and as a guest in Moscow, Hamburg, and London. He produced Salome and Fidelio with the English National Opera Ensemble, and Butterfly with the Welsh National Opera in 1979. His work is marked by strong beliefs in politics and in music theatre; his Parsifal at the London Coliseum in March 1986 had mixed reviews. He was director of productions at the Dresden Opera 1981–90.
