Herzog, Werner (1942– )

German film director. He often takes his camera to exotic and impractical locations. His original and visually splendid films include Aguirre der Zorn Gottes/Aguirre Wrath of God (1972), Nosferatu Phantom der Nacht/Nosferatu Phantom of the Night (1979), Fitzcarraldo (1982), Rad der Zeit/Wheel of Time (2003), and The Enigma of Loch Ness (2004).

In 1999 he completed his direction of a documentary entitled My Best Fiend, based on his notoriously strained collaboration with his leading actor Klaus Kinski.
