Heywood, Thomas (c. 1570–c. 1650)

English actor and dramatist. He wrote or adapted over 220 plays, including the domestic tragedy A Woman Kilde with Kindnesse (1602–03). He also wrote an Apology for Actors (1612), in answer to attacks on the morality of the theatre.
