Hickam Air Force Base

Military airfield on Hawaii, immediately to the southeast of Pearl Harbor and 11 km/7 mi northwest of Honolulu. The installation was completed in 1935, and was extensively bombed by Japanese forces during their attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. In 1990, the town around the air base had a population of 6,600.

Remains believed to be associated with the crew of JG 23 and another incident in the vicinity were returned to American soil on 14 February 2003 for a repatriation ceremony at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.
