Hidalgo, Elvira de (1892–1980)

Spanish soprano. She made her debut in Naples in 1908, and appeared at the New York Metropolitan Opera House in 1910, as Rosina; she sang Gilda there and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, in 1924. She taught in Athens from 1932, and Maria Callas was among her pupils.
