Hide, Herbie (1971– )

English boxer. He was the World Boxing Organization (WBO) world heavyweight champion 1994–95 and again in 1997–99. He first won the title in March 1994 when he knocked out Michael Bentt of the USA. However, in his first defence of the title 12 months later he was knocked out by US boxer Riddick Bowe. In June 1997 he stopped Tony Tucker of the USA in two rounds to regain the title, and made two successful defences the following year. He lost his title after losing to Vitali Klitschko of Ukraine at the London Arena in June 1999.
