Hill, Ambrose Powell

Hill, Ambrose Powell (1825–1865)

American Confederate general. He fought at Williamsburg, Richmond, and the second battle of Bull Run, and received the surrender at Harpers Ferry 17 September 1862.

Hill was born in Culpeper County, Virginia. He graduated from the West Pont military academy 1847. He was shot dead from his horse near Petersburg 2 April 1865, just before the end of the war.
