Hill, Damon (1960– )

English racing driver. He won his first Grand Prix in Hungary in 1993. In both 1994 and 1995 he finished as runner-up to Michael Schumacher in the Drivers' Championship. He won the 1996 Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship, leading the competition from start to finish, winning eight races and finishing 19 points ahead of his nearest rival. In June 1999, he announced his retirement from Formula 1.

The son of Graham Hill, he began his Formula 1 racing career with Brabham in 1992 before replacing Nigel Mansell at Williams, who had used him as a test driver. He joined the TWR Arrows team for the 1997 season after Williams did not renew his contract, and moved to the Jordan team in 1998.
