Hillier, Paul (Douglas) (1949– )

English bass, writer, and conductor. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music Drama and was vicar-choral at St Paul's Cathedral 1973–74. He co-founded and directed the Hillier Ensemble 1974–90, for the performance of late medieval and Renaissance music with an ensemble of four male voices. In 1990 he was appointed professor of music at the University of California at Davis.
