Hilton, Conrad Nicholson (1887–1979)

US entrepreneur, founder of the Hilton Hotel Corporation 1946. During the 1930s he steadily expanded his chain of luxury hotels and resorts and reorganized it as the Hilton Hotel Corporation 1946. He based the firm's marketing appeal on its recognizable name and high-quality standardized service.

Born in San Antonio, New Mexico, USA, Hilton attended the New Mexico School of Mines and joined his father in various business ventures after graduation 1909. Originally successful in banking, he entered the hotel business after World War I, retiring 1966. His autobiography, Be My Guest, was published 1957.
