Hilton, John (1804–1878)

British surgeon. He attended Guy's Hospital first as a student and afterwards as demonstrator of anatomy (1828), assistant-surgeon (1844) and surgeon (1849). As president of the Royal College of Surgeons, he gave the Hunterian oration in 1867. He was joint-founder of the museum of models at Guy's, and was the foremost anatomist of his day. With G Bird, Hilton performed the first operation for strangulation of the small intestine. His Rest and Pain (1863), is a surgical classic.

Hilton, John (1599–1657)

English organist and composer. He took a degree in music at Cambridge University in 1626 and two years later became organist at St Margaret's Church, Westminster.

services and anthems; madrigals, Ayres, or Fa La's for three voices (published 1627; the last English madrigal publication); Elegy on the death of Wm Lawes for three voices and bass; collection of catches, rounds, and canons Catch that Catch Can (1652); songs, fantasies for viols, hymn ‘Wilt Thou Forgive That Sin Where I Begun’ from Donne's Divine Poems.

Club captain Brian Macdonald (9-20-79) won the 55-60 age group, club president Mick Baynes (86-14-72) the 61-70 and Ian Farrell (91-18-73) the 71 plus with Baynes in the winning Bull Bay C team along with Benny Hilton, John Gore, Dafydd Davies, Gwyn Ll Smith and Roy Gregson.
They were Lewis Williamson from Nancy's Bordello, Michael Robinson from As You Like It, Ron Banerjee from the Hilton, John Collingwood from Want to Impress and Nigel Scott, Tom Walker and Callum Underwood, also from Popolo.
