Hirschsprung's disease

Condition in which part of the bowel lacks a normal nerve supply. This results in lack of bowel motility and an accumulation of bowel contents in the upper colon. The condition becomes apparent in the first few weeks of life, with abdominal pain and distension, and constipation. It is treated surgically.
