Hobe Sound

Unincorporated community in Martin County, southeastern Florida; population (1990) 11,500. Lying near the Atlantic Ocean, the affluent resort community of Hobe Sound is situated 32 km/20 mi north-northwest of West Palm Beach.

The Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge (covering some 400 hectares/1,000 acres) lies just to the northwest on Jupiter Island, the barrier island that separates Hobe Sound from the open sea.
