Hocking County

Administrative district of south-central Ohio; area 1,096 sq km/423 sq mi, population (1990) 25,500. It is intersected by the Hocking River, and has its seat at Logan, where there is some manufacturing. The rest of the county is largely woodland, with some farming (dairy, grain, and livestock) as well as coalmining. Clay, gravel, and sand are also extracted.
