Hoffmann, Josef (1870-1956)

Austrian architect. Influenced by art nouveau, he was one of the founders of the Wiener Werkstätte/Vienna Workshops (a modern design cooperative of early 20th-century Vienna), and a pupil of Otto Wagner. One of his best-known works is the Purkersdorf Sanatorium (1903-05).
