Hoffmann, Amadeus (Ernst Theodor Wilhelm) (1776–1822)German composer and writer. He composed the opera Undine (1816), but is chiefly remembered as an author and librettist of fairy stories, including ‘Nussknacker/Nutcracker’ (1816).
