Hoi An| Port in Quang Nam province, central Vietnam, situated 23 km/14 mi south of Da Nang; population (1991 est) 69,900. Exports include local products such as sugar, tea, and silk; the main industry is dressmaking. It was one of Southeast Asia's major international ports from the 17th to the 19th centuries. |
