Holacanthus

Genus of brightly coloured marine bony fish. The species are are particularly abundant near volcanic rocks and coral islands. They are highly valued as food.

H. imperator, a native of the East Indies, is deep blue with bands of orange.

Classification

Holacanthus belongs to the family Pomacanthidae in order Perciformes, class Osteichthyes.
